DUCTA-SERIES Rotary Foundry Drums
Differences and Advantages of GK's new line of Rotary Drums

General Kinematics is proud to offer DUCTA-SERIES... a better solution in rotary drum technology. GK rotary foundry drums were designed using feedback from existing rotary users to eliminate many of the issues found with traditional designs. This provides metalcasters with a superior product in both safety and cost efficiency.

DUCTA-SERIES rotary drums reduce the cost of ownership by half. This is accomplished by utilizing GK’s patent pending rotary drum liner system that not only costs up to 75% less than traditional rotary drum liners, but is positively retained in the body of the rotary drum, eliminating safety issues during installation and operation. GK's rotary drum liner segment design eliminates liner cave-ins during installation and operation. Fabricated design allows for endless configuration of rifling and lifting flight arrangements as well, making the DUCTA-SERIES rotary drum a more versatile machine. In addition, the GK liner system can be installed in one shift, which is good news for maintenance staff and management alike.

  DUCTA-SERIES Cost of Ownership:
How are you really going to save half my maintenance budget by switching to the GK DUCTA-SERIES drum? The answer is simple math. If you assume that the initial cost of the DUCTA-SERIES is the same as other rotary drum devices, you then add up all the costs you will experience over the life of both designs. With traditional rotary drums, you replace the liner every 3 to 5 years, and the drum body every 5 - 7 years. Right away, the DUCTA-SERIES saves you money by eliminating the need to replace the rotary drum body. Further, when you change liners, the cost of GK's patent pending liner system is up to 75% less, and installs in a fraction of the time it takes for heavy and dangerous cast grids found in traditional rotary drum designs.

  Patent Pending Liner System
DUCTA-SERIES rotary drums are designed so that no material contacts the drum body surface, so you will not have to replace the rotary drum body every 5-7 years. If the need to replace the rotary drum body ever would occur, the patent pending sectional drum body of the DUCTA-SERIES is easy to get in and out of thosetight installations.

This shell/liner design feature also leads to improved dust collection and cooling, pulling air through the shakeout deck, around the castings, and up through the collection port. The ambient air wicksaway hot air and steam, cooling castings to reduce possible surface defects.

  DUCTA-SERIES Feeding options:
Proper presentation of material to rotary drums is important to reduce jam ups and keep material flow consistent. GK has been designing rotary in-feed conveyors and feeders for decades, and can create the custom solution you require. Designs incorporate heavy-duty troughs designed for mold dump impact forces and special inlet sections which match the circumference of the rotary drum opening to eliminate casting and media spillage. GK rotary in-feed equipment is available for DUCTA-SERIES and other brands of rotary equipment.
